Job Details

The Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet is seeking an innovative, dynamic, self-starting policy leader to head up inmate reentry efforts at the Department of Corrections. Strong reentry programs are a top priority for the Cabinet, and candidates for this positon must possess a passion for preparing former felons to thrive beyond the prison walls through evidence-based practices. This position demands an aptitude for developing and implementing new strategies while coordinating existing efforts with a broad array of stakeholders. This individual will work directly for the Justice Secretary and is expected to play a robust role in a fast-paced, reform-minded environment. Successful reintegration of felons not only transforms lives, but also allows the department to focus resources on the most serious offenders. Kentucky is already a national leader in criminal justice reform, and we intend to become a national leader on reentry efforts as well.

  • Develops, implements and coordinates reentry programs at the Kentucky Department of Corrections, ensuring that all programs adhere to evidence-based practices, concrete objectives and measurable outcomes.

  • Works directly with the Kentucky Justice Secretary and his team to formulate policies in a fast-paced, reform-minded environment. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to be a team player.

  • Engages in public outreach, representing our team and values among national policy leaders, the media and the taxpaying public.

  • Works directly with Probation and Parole to coordinate and collaborate efforts for successful reentry.

Education preferences, minimum requirements: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration or a related field. Sufficient education which would assure the knowledge, skills and abilities to accomplish agency objectives.

Experience preferences, minimum requirements: Three to five years of experience in inmate reentry, correctional programming or a related field. Sufficient professional level administrative experience which would assure the knowledge, skills and abilities to accomplish agency objectives.
