Financial Analyst, KY Innovation (Cabinet for Economic Development)

KY Innovation (Office of Entrepreneurship) is a fast-paced agency working to transform Kentucky’s startup ecosystem. We operate within the Secretary’s Office in the KY Cabinet for Economic Development and are chiefly responsible for the Commonwealth’s innovation and entrepreneurship agenda, including: regional innovation hubs to support startups, university commercialization and technology transfer, capital formation and investment in early stage ventures, accelerator and pitch competition management, SBIR/STTR grant funding, corporate and public partner engagement (including a multi-faceted partnership with MIT), and related programs and overall strategy for supporting a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kentucky.

Job Details

This position will serve as a financial analyst within the Office of Entrepreneurship and will be responsible for supporting a wide array of finance-related functions within KY Innovation, including contract transactions, budget reconciliation, financial program analysis, investment analysis, database management and market modeling.

Essential Duites & Responsibilities:
  • Basic accounting tasks such as monthly internal budget analysis and monthly grant reconciliation;
  • Market research;
  • Program support (e.g. Opportunity zones, SBIR/STTR, High Tech Pool investments);
  • Advanced financial modeling;
  • Capital formation strategy support; and
  • Investment analysis/valuation.
Experience: 3 to 5 years in financial analysis or accounting.

This is a non-merit, governor-appointed position that reports to the Director of Operations, Office of Entrepreneurship (Cabinet for Economic Development).

Salary (depending on experience): $40,000 - $50,000
Work Schedule: Full Time (Mon - Fri; 37.5 hrs/wk)
Location: Frankfort, KY (Travel will be required in order to be onsite regularly in KY Innovation regional cluster offices for meeting with partners and clients.)
