Job Details

The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development is seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as the Executive Director of the Office of Workforce, Community Development and Research. The full-time position will be located in Frankfort, Kentucky, and will be responsible for cultivating growth by developing relationships with the business community to identify and attract talent, provide leadership to regional business service teams, connect labor supply and employer demand as well as providing direction and oversight of the Cabinet’s Research function.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, train and motivate a highly skilled team of project managers to meet with companies to provide relationship management and to coordinate strategic service delivery.
  • Maintain a strong network of partnerships with local and regional development entities to provide coordinated workforce and community development resources to business and industry clients.
  • Maintain a strong partnership with other state agencies focused on workforce, community development and research endeavors.
  • Represent the Commonwealth at trade shows, conferences, business symposiums and economic development symposiums and other workforce, community development and research functions.
  • Speak at conferences, events and meetings representing the Cabinet.
  • Possess a sense of urgency to respond quickly and provide excellent customer service to our clients, partners and team members.
  • Communicate with and nurture relationships with a wide variety of customers of different industries and backgrounds as well as other workforce, community development and research oriented local, state and federal agencies.
  • Effectively and responsively address customer problems and pursue viable solutions.
  • Facilitate future research strategies concerning data and analytics.
  • Interacts with business leaders and other partners to better confirm trends identified through research methodology.
  • Regularly briefs cabinet leadership on trend analysis as well as current and future products and development as part of workforce, community development and research strategy.
  • Work closely with other teams within the Administration to support Cabinet Goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree, preferably in business, economics, marketing or a related field.
  • 3-5 years customer service experience in an Economic Development agency, workforce development agency, consulting firm, or a company with large contracts/accounts.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in senior level supervisory and leadership roles.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, customer-focused problem solver needed to work with senior executives of some of the largest companies in the country. Must also be comfortable working with small companies in rural communities.
  • Willing to travel and work after normal business hours.
