Gem Innovation Schools is a new, non-profit Charter Management Organization which oversees the operation of Idaho Distance Education Academy and Gem Prep Schools.
Gem Prep: Pocatello is blended learning center designed to put high performing teachers in the classroom with powerful online learning programs for students whose parents want the highest educational opportunities for their children.
Idaho Distance Education Academy (I-DEA) is a high achieving online public charter school for students in kindergarten through grade twelve across the state of Idaho. We are chartered under the Whitepine School District #288 and accredited through AdvancED. We offer a wide range of curriculum and course options to meet students individualized needs. Students have access to learning tools 24/7 and can tailor their daily schedule to best meet their needs. Parents play a critical role in their child’s education and provide daily instructional support. Advanced level curriculum and courses are available for qualified students. Free tutoring services are provided for students who are not yet performing at grade level. Our goal is to provide a challenging and engaging educational experience for every child.

Gem Innovation Schools (GIS) is the first and only Charter Management Organization (CMO) in the state of Idaho. In 2015, GIS received a grant from the J.A. & Kathryn Albertson Foundation to support opening new high performing charter schools in the State of Idaho. Gem Prep: Pocatello, a K-1 blended learning charter school opened in the fall 2014. In the fall of 2015 Gem Prep: Pocatello will expand to grades K-3 and will subsequently grow by at least one grade level per year until grades K-12 are served. Gem Innovations Schools will open a K-4 blended learning charter school in the Treasure Valley and grow until grades K-12 are served. Long term plans are to open a fourth charter school in the State of Idaho.

Full time employees are offered a competitive benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance. Full-time certificated employees are eligible for sick leave and bereavement leave. All eligible employees (20 hours per week or more) participate in the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI).
