Job Details

The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Research Executive for the Office of Business & Community Development. The full-time position will oversee internal and external reserach related functions and staff, and will be based in Frankfort, Kentucky.


  • Provide research support to Kentucky businesses and communities and support new and expanding business development projects.
  • Assist the Executive Director in planning and implementing office goals, while keeping other executive staff apprised of relevant activities.
  • Provide recommendations to executive staff on research related functions.
  • Provide direct managerial oversight to the primary research staff, including monitoring their workflow and productivity, delivering performance evaluations and handling personnel issues.
  • Coordinate work of staff and/or others outside the Cabinet, i.e. local government officials, local economic development officials, utility partners, etc., in compiling information to respond to requests for information (RFIs) received from site selection consultants and/or corporations.
  • Prepare written and web based proposals and marketing materials regarding the corporate climate of Kentucky which may give detailed information about taxes, methods of financing, labor laws, environmental regulations, transportation, energy, workforce, wages, labor organizations, Industrial training, etc.
  • Must understand and maintain all research tools and databases, making recommendations to executive staff on the return on investment of the different resources available.
  • Work across the Cabinet to further support lead generation efforts through research tasks.
Education preferences, minimum requirements: Bachelor's Degree

Experience preferences, minimum requirements:
  • 3-5 years’ experience using/maintaining a database and other research tools. (For example: Tableau, Salesforce, Dunn & Bradstreet, Implan, etc.)
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management.
  • Leadership experience.
  • The ability to work independently and with others.
  • The ability to work with multiple partners at all levels.
Salary (approximate, depending on experience): $65,000 - $75,000
Work Schedule: Full Time (Mon - Fri; 37.5 hrs/wk)
Location: Frankfort, KY
